The Pentacle suit in this deck concerns the Athenian craftsman, Daedalus. In this card, he is shown on his knees with his hands clasped in front of King Minos of Crete. The king offers Daedalus six Pentacles, in promise of future patronage.
When this card shows up, we often look at support as an answer to or cause of a problem. This card questions how balance features in our life. Are we using support, pushing it away, offering it, or taking advantage of it?
As we hit the middle of this week, help is something which could likely be at hand. Do you feel as though you are being supported at the moment? Are you even aware of the support which is around you? Many of us struggle through situations, not realising that there are people who can help us by sharing their time, money and resources. Look around you. Is there someone who can assist you with a problem you are having at the present moment? Could it be you who has the opportunity to help out another or provide for someone who is in lack?
Todays card is about sharing. Sometimes, it is the things we place little value on in our daily existence – like time, a friendly ear, or patience – which people require the most. As you move through today, look out for all of the kinds of support which are truly available to you. Which ones do you need and which ones could you cope well enough without? Remember that the 6 of Pentacles is not a card of luxury. Examine how you can help others. This card might suggest helping someone out financially, but it could mean listening to another person when you have something more pressing to do or distributing some much-needed impartial advice. Whenever you think you have nothing left to give, there is always that little bit more.
