Your Card for Today: Ace of Cups

Ace of Cups Blog copyAs we begin this week, we are presented with the Ace of Cups from my Spirit within the Shadows Tarot.

With each ace, we are gifted an opportunity. In this card, it is a single cup that we are offered.

A dove sits on a branch. In Greek mythology, the bird is sacred to Aphrodite, the goddess of love. It is of little surprise then, that the suit of Cups relates to the element of Water and emotion.

When the Ace of Cups turns up in our day, new beginnings of an emotional nature or the stirrings of love are indicated. Even though it may arrive to suggest a new emotional relationship, the card could point at our spirit being rejuvenated in some way. If you have been going through a tough time, then this card might herald a fresh start within personal relationships or the helping hand of someone who cares.

Are you willing to take the cup which is offered? Often, it is simply a change in perspective which can unlock the magic within a card like this. For someone who is shut off to the power of love and the beauty within the world, things will never change. However, if we open our eyes to our environment and the people within it, we will become aware that there are many gifts and new doorways towards fulfillment, just waiting to be accessed.

Open your eyes today and take advantage of the beauty and freshness of this card. The energy of the Ace of Cups is here for all of us, if only we allow our self to see it.

“The greatest potential we have for opening our hearts lies in the opening of our minds” – Veronika Tugaleva, The Love Mindset.

  1. Gadfry, I love the graphic on this card.

We often get Mourning Doves (Zenaida macroura) in the garden and they are cheery birds despite their mournful cooing. That too reminds me of perspective, is the dove making a mournful sound or a cheery sound? OR thinking of Noah, is the dove bringing a branch from land back or coming back with its beak empty? Accept what the cup offers.

Great bird to add extra layers of meaning to this.

    • Thanks, Judy 🙂

You see the Ace of Cups as I do, so I love your added insights around the dove. It is definitely something I will think about when the card comes up in the future. It does add layers of meaning to this simple image.
